Mike Huckabee on fossil fuels and climate change

Last night I partially watched Republican debate. They strictly concentrated on ISIS. One of Huckabee's statement was amazing. He said that U.S. has the highest reserve of coal, oil and gas in the world. He said " let's produce these fuels and export them. Let's not depend on Middle East for fossil fuels.

He stated that the biggest threat to U.S is ISIS/ISIL and not climate change.

TRUDEAU’S PLEDGE TO CLIMATE FUND

It is great to see Canada playing a productive role on the World stage.
The Trudeau government’s pledge of $2.65 billion dollars to help developing countries with sustainability is important. It shows Canada takes climate change seriously. It is important for these countries to build a green economy and take advantage of the opportunities therein. Thus it is important for wealthier countries to provide assistance to this goal. It is an important step to helping the poor and vulnerable most affected by climate change.

As quoted in this Huffington Post article, UNICEF Canada’s president states that:" We know that children, particularly the poorest, are disproportionately vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, a fundamental threat to their most basic rights, including access to food, water, education and survival.”
Great to see Canada playing a productive role here.

UN Scientific Panel Releases Report on Climate Change

Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that issued the 32-volume, 2,610-page report here early Monday, told The Associated Press: "it is a call for action." Without reductions in emissions, he said, impacts from warming "could get out of control.".........

Twenty-first century disasters such as killer heat waves in Europe, wildfires in the United States, droughts in Australia and deadly flooding in Mozambique, Thailand and Pakistan highlight how vulnerable humanity is to extreme weather, according to the report from the Nobel Prize-winning group of scientists. The dangers are going to worsen as the climate changes even more, the report's authors said.

"We're now in an era where climate change isn't some kind of future hypothetical," said the overall lead author of the report, Chris Field of the Carnegie Institution for Science in California. "We live in an area where impacts from climate change are already widespread and consequential."

Now I see that The Huffington Post has posted the barren land globe on its front page under the UN Report on Climate Change. Interesting! I am not the only one who thinks that earth may become barren someday.

If you think of climate change as a hazard for some far-off polar bears years from now, you're mistaken. That's the message from top climate scientists gathering in Japan this week to assess the impact of global warming.

In fact, they will say, the dangers of a warming Earth are immediate and very human.

"The polar bear is us," says Patricia Romero Lankao of the federally financed National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colo., referring to the first species to be listed as threatened by global warming due to melting sea ice.

Dangerous and erratic weather in U.S

"A leaked report from one of the world's most prestigious group of scientists, winners of the Nobel Prize, has a lot of people taking notice because of the alarming conclusions about climate change. NBC’s Ann Curry recently traveled to one of the most breathtaking places on earth where folks are seeing their way of life disappear before their eyes.

The key finding in this leaked draft report is that it's “extremely likely, as in greater than 95%, that human activity is the main cause of the planet's temperature rise in the last 60 years.” News team went looking for answers in a place where the ice melt is unprecedented.

At the top of the world in arctic, Greenland, scientists like Dr. Jason Box study the icy landscape. He says all this might be lost to climate change mostly caused by humans burning fossil fuels.
