Canada Stands Alone - John Baird on Iran
Is John Baird trying to out-Netanyahu the Israeli Prime Minister? Canada used to be seen as a force for peace on the world stage, but Baird is opposing a widely supported deal that would see Iran eliminate its nuclear weapons program. President Obama and other world leaders played a key role in spearheading this deal, Secretary of State John Kerry is also to be commended for his efforts on this.
John Baird and Stephen Harper are an embarrassment to our country on the world stage, they are standing for war and belligerence rather than peace and diplomacy. This is not the Canada I know. Recommend this post

Stephen Harper finally noticed in Malaysia
Sunday October 6 Stephen Harper did meet Malaysian counterpart Najib Razak.
Prime Minister Razak of Malaysia has stated that Malaysian state-owned oil company, Petronas, will invest billions in Canadian liquefied natural gas development. Now the fun starts as more pollution will be introduced in Canada. Besides China, now Malaysia is going to spend money in Canada. Harper is doing a good job to serve his masters – oil and gas companies.
Malaysian Prime Minister Mohd Najib sprung the "gargantuan" investment figure during a joint availability with Harper in Putrajaya, saying Malaysia's state-owned oil and gas company Petronas has committed to construction of a liquid natural gas plant in British Columbia and the pipeline to feed it.
"I'm told that this is the largest direct foreign investment in Canada by any country," Najib said, flanked by Harper following a formal welcoming ceremony at a sprawling new government precinct outside the Malaysian capital of Kuala Lumpur.

Barack Obama and Martin Luther King
Was Obama a suitable person to give a speech on the 50th anniversary of MLK's "I have a dream" speech? MLK may have his own weaknesses as he was human after all, but he was not a hypocrite like Obama.
It was Martin Luther King's efforts and Lyndon Johnson's co-operation that brought about the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act, which were signed by Lyndon Johnson. However, when it came to the Vietnam war, Martin Luther King spoke out loud and clear that it was an unjust war where innocent people were being killed and American soldiers were losing their lives, all for an unjust war. It made relations between Lyndon Johnson and Martin Luther King very tense. However, it is clear that Martin Luther King believed in the rights of all people whether they were Vietnamese or American.
That is not the case with Obama. He is a big hypocrite. On the one hand he talks about human rights, on the other hand he continues to kill innocent people in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and during Iraq war, using drones or air strikes by warplanes. When children and women are killed by drone attacks all the Obama administration says is that they are sorry. Does this 'sorry' wipe out the guilt for killing innocent civilians? He must give back his Noble Peace Prize as he does not deserve it. Now he is all set to launch air strikes against Syria. However, it is not going to be easy. The British Parliament is not going along with Cameron. Moreover, Putin is moving some of his navy ships into the Mediterranean and closer to Syria.
Then we have Stephen Harper who wants to by-pass the Parliament and go along with Americans. He is still for pro-rogue.
It is true that what Assad of Syria is doing is totally wrong, but will an invasion of Syria solve this problem or further aggravate it? It is hard to tell.
An attack on Syria may result in a much bigger war if Russia tries to intervene and Iran may decide to participate against the U.S. and Israel. It does not look like an easy problem to resolve.

Brothels and Massage Parlours: Girls are bought for prostitution
America talks about spreading democracy and freeing women in Afghanistan. Why doesn't the American Government do the same in their own country? The situation in Canada is not much different. The majority of these victims are Asians. Slavery continues to exist in some form or even worse than slavery. These girls are used and abused for the sex trade. Why not raid these brothels and massage parlours to free these victims? It is so sad that this kind of human rights violations exist in the 21st century. Advanced civilization? What civilization?

George Monbiot of Britain On Canada:
I don't know much about George Monbiot. He is an environmental activist. He has some interesting views about Canada.
Here is what he said about Canada on CBC The Sunday Edition's Laura Lynch:
“Canada is “one of the world’s most beautiful and sophisticated nations,” but that it is being "ransacked by barbarians.”
“At the moment, this highly cultured, sophisticated, wonderful nation seems to be descending into a thuggish petro-state which appears to be governed by the tar patch, and its politics seem to suffer from the oil curse, as so many countries suffer from when they have found big reserves of fossil fuels. And wildlife has suffered greatly as a result, natural resources of all kinds are suffering greatly, and so are those who love nature.
“It’s almost as if Canada is ripping up its most precious natural assets in exchange for assets which won’t last long and which can only cause harm, and that to me seems to be completely perverse.”
CBC News
Currently those barbarians will be, based on George Monbiot's statement, Stephen Harper, his cronies and fossil fuel companies. Recommend this post

British PM David Cameron addresses a joint session of Parliament

When these leaders make speeches; pay attention to their language and the symbolism behind such language.
An American president, in this case Obama, will use the language like “we are one nation under God” partially implying American exceptionalism as if it is the only nation under God. Hey Obama, if there is a God then all nations are under the same God. As a matter of fact Americans have shown that they can be very barbaric. I believe Troy Davis was an innocent man; he was recently executed for the murder of a police officer. It was a sad spectacle and Mr. Davis maintained his innocence until the end. So much for the America being a nation under God, if authorities can behave in this brutal manner.
Then there is this British Prime Minister, David Cameron, who came to visit his buddy King Harper and addressed a joint session of the Canadian parliament. He ended his speech by saying “we are two nations under one Queen”. Wow! When did we become a colony again? I thought we were an independent nation. Harper wants to take us back to when we used to be a colony. Maybe we should ship Harper to Britain. Surely the Queen will have some room for him in her servant's quarters. Also by turning us into a colony again Harper is poking a finger into the eyes of Quebecers. Recommend this post

Is Canada a Welfare State?
If you have the patience to read the National Compost then you may like to read this article. These are similar views expressed by Harper before he ever became Prime Minister. In light of the healthcare debate in the US, Canadians should have realized how better off we are than the US. But the National Post will like you to think otherwise. No wonder CanWest has gone belly up and may be looking for a bailout. Corporate welfare is good for these folks but for the general public it is sooo bad. Look at the corporate welfare in the US the model state for the National Post and others of its ilk.
