Murphy’s law

Is Mike Murphy of New Brunswick, who recently quit as Minister of Justice and Attorney General and is quitting politics altogether (by resigning as MLA in five weeks), a victim of his own ego? In 2006, when he became Minister of Health, hopes were high that he would fix the mess left behind by the Lord Government. That myth was put to rest quickly as he became VERY unpopular VERY fast. This was a result of the changes he made including getting rid of the eight health regions in the province and replacing them with only two. His so-called changes did not go over well. Local media repeatedly asked for his resignation.

So he went for a second chance and became Minister of Justice and Attorney General in June 2009. He got his precious "QC" with his name but it did not work out either. So Murphy's Law came into effect.

"If at first you don't succeed, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it."

The guy has an incredibly big ego; maybe that was his undoing. He will do well as a lawyer but politics does not seem to be his cup of tea.

Breaking News: New Brunswick Legislature invaded by Vampire Bats

Mike Murphy, New Brunswick Minister of Health, was attacked by the bat in the Legislature. That explains Murphy's behaviour in recent days and weeks... and in general.

Update: Oops sorry! I was misinformed. It was Benjamin Shingler, a reporter with the Telegraph Journal (a New Brunswick newspaper) who was bitten by the bat. The reporter is okay and receiving proper injections and antibiotics. It has come to my attention that the bat was actually an old politician. He was mad that when he was alive and an MLA, he was not treated well by this reporter (or so he felt). So he got his revenge in the after-life as a bat ;)

Mike Murphy, New Brunswick Health Minister: Iggy Syndrome (aka the Iggy Effect)

Is New Brunswick Premier Shawn Graham aware of this? Mike Murphy's plans to partially-privatize health care will be a major blow to Canada's public health care system, something that we have taken pride in as Canadians. His arrogant manner and demeanour makes it that much worse - he doesn't care about the people that will be hurt by his decisions, and he doesn't listen to anyone. His policies are dangerous.
Murphy must be stopped. Below is an excerpt from an article on Murphy from the New Brunswick Telegraph Journal.

"The New Brunswick health minister (is) often the target of curses and complaints... Opposition politicians regularly call for his resignation, doctors have left their posts in anger and at least one francophone group is accusing him of trying to strip them of their constitutional rights."
