Is Mike Murphy of New Brunswick, who recently quit as Minister of Justice and Attorney General and is quitting politics altogether (by resigning as MLA in five weeks), a victim of his own ego? In 2006, when he became Minister of Health, hopes were high that he would fix the mess left behind by the Lord Government. That myth was put to rest quickly as he became VERY unpopular VERY fast. This was a result of the changes he made including getting rid of the eight health regions in the province and replacing them with only two. His so-called changes did not go over well. Local media repeatedly asked for his resignation.
So he went for a second chance and became Minister of Justice and Attorney General in June 2009. He got his precious "QC" with his name but it did not work out either. So Murphy's Law came into effect.
"If at first you don't succeed, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it."
The guy has an incredibly big ego; maybe that was his undoing. He will do well as a lawyer but politics does not seem to be his cup of tea.
