North Korea Puts Army on 'Quasi State of War

This sounds very scary because if there is a war between North and South Korea it will spread if countries like U.S. and Russia get involved.

His Highness Emperor Stephen Harper

Harper is putting Canadian troops on the frontlines in Iraq, when even the United States would not, and then sending Canadian troops to Syria. He’s taking our country deeper into war and putting our Canadian soldiers at risk. Who does Harper think he is? Is he trying to be a macho superpower wannabe? Is he trying to be an imperialist and colonialist? White man’s burden?

Also, Harper and his government are harassing a young man, Omar Khadr, with bogus claims to the Supreme Court that Khadr should be tried as an adult. Elizabeth May was right, Khadr has much more class than the whole f@#king cabinet.

On top of all this, Harper is trying to distract from this with his nonsense over debates, refusing the joint consortium of Global, CTV, CBC, Radio Canada, and other stations. Probably he is also looking for media and moderators who will be favourable to him.

Awful this is coming from our government. Emperor Harper’s arrogance knows no bounds.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani: Iran has no plans to build nuclear weapons

Ann Curry of NBC interviewed Hassan Rouhani.

“We have never pursued or sought a nuclear bomb, and we are not going to do so,” he said. “We solely are looking for peaceful nuclear technology.”

Asked whether he thought Obama looked weak when he backed off the air-strike threat, Rouhani replied, “We consider war a weakness. Any government or administration that decides to wage a war, we consider a weakness. And any government that decides on peace, we look on it with respect to peace.”

Rouhani described Israel as "an occupier and usurper government" that "does injustice to the people of the region, and has brought instability to the region, with its warmongering policies."   He added Israel "shouldn't allow itself to give speeches about a democratically and freely elected government."

Syria, War and Children

It is sad that how war-torn areas impact children and what kind of life they live. To start with there are two million refugees from Syria in neighbouring countries and many of them are children. Syria's total population is 22 1/2 million and nearly 35% are 0-14 years old - children. What kind of life view will they have the ones who survive? It is all very tragic. Below is a picture of a child who is playing with a mortar launcher as if it is a toy.

PLAYING SOLDIER: Issa, 10 years old, fixed a mortar launcher at a weapons factory used by the Free Syrian Army in Aleppo, Syria, Saturday. Issa works 10-hour shifts with his father at the factory. (Hamid Khatib/Reuters)WSJ.

Is Canada going to participate in Syrian war?

The answer is yes. The participation will be covert. King Harper is not sit and just watch it. He doesn’t want silly discussions in the Canadian Parliament - there he is in favour of pro-rogue.

HMCS Toronto

"Military sources tell CTV News it would take at least a week to get Canadian assets into the area, when a precision strike could be just days away.

Canada is capable of taking over U.S. military tasks in some locations to free up American resources. Canada could also provide capabilities like transport and refuelling……

The Canadian warship HMCS Toronto is currently near the Gulf of Oman, deployed on a counter terrorism mission known as CTF-150. The Canadian government could make the decision to redeploy the ship to the Mediterranean. Once there, the frigate could take over duties from an American ship, freeing the U.S. vessel to move toward Syria.

The Air Force is capable of providing strategic-lift C-17s to transport troops, equipment and ammunition for any potential action against Syria. Military sources and civilian analysts suggest this may be the most likely contribution by Canada."

Wars are good for Generals and the Rich only

Michael Moore said it aptly in his letter to Obama opposing the escalation of war in Afghanistan:

"Not send more poor people to kill other poor people who pose no threat to them, that's what they'd do. Not spend billions and trillions to wage war while American children are sleeping on the streets and standing in bread lines."

You can read the rest of his letter here.

I need not repeat that so many lies have been told to justify wars: WMD's in Iraq and women's rights in Afghanistan or maybe we should call them WMD's and WRA's bold faced lies.

The worst part is, as Michael Moore said, it is poor killing the poor. Very rarely do sons and daughters of the rich and powerful actually participate in war on the ground. It is always poor (and the middle class to some degree) who pay the price.

What the general public must watch out for is the brainwashing which goes on to convince young men and women to go in the harms way. Such as you will become an instant "hero" if you kill so many "enemies". Or if you die you instantly become a martyr – what good does it do for the person who is dead and what good is it for his/her loved ones? It is exploitation of the people. Not much different than what Karl Marx said about religion and how it is used as an opium for the masses. He was quite right there. It is exploitation and brainwashing.

I said this before and I will say it again, that the only people who benefit from such wars are the rich and powerful – oil and gas companies in Iraq and Afghanistan or the generals who can keep their jobs a little longer. What poor and middle class get out of it is more misery, death and destruction. Then of course higher taxes to pay for these vicious wars started by the rich and powerful for the benefit of the rich and powerful. It is time that the general public rises up against these horrible wars and demand an end to them.
