Steven Benner: We are all Martians

We are all Martians. A rock brought us on earth. I don't know about rest of us but Harper and company definitely came from the Mars and have not fully adjusted on earth.:)

"The evidence seems to be building that we are actually all Martians; that life started on Mars and came to Earth on a rock," Steven Benner, a chemist at the Florida-based Foundation for Applied Molecular Evolution, said in a news release. What's more, recent studies suggest that the conditions suitable for the origin of life "may still exist on Mars," he said.

Read about the new  theory by a scientist at NBC News.

Can Humans Live Forever?

According to the following commentary humans can live forever.

Huffpost Senior Science Correspondent Cara Santa Maria discusses humankind's obsession with immortality, and what this really means from a biological perspective.

I have my doubts. Then would it not be boring to live forever?

Humans: The beginning and the end

A baby comes in this world crying and kicking. He/she leaves the world groaning and moaning. Life is a bugger.

A question to evolutionist enthusiasts

How come there is an evolution of super-bugs which are immune to antibiotics and kill humans? Where are the evolved super humans who have evolved human cells to kill these super-bugs before they kill them? Are super-bugs going to rule the world?

Ardi: Human’s great great………. grandmother

Big sigh of relief ;) We are not direct descendant of chimps. We may share ancestors but millions of years ago we parted company and went separate ways. Something eh! But why was Ardi found all alone? Where is rest of her family – her father, mother, siblings, husband and children? No one was nearby and was never found. She was wandering all alone in the wilderness? I don't know where this evolution thing is taking us.

Life is simply too complex to be explained away so easily by one simple evolution theory. Why did evolution need males and females? Why could it not come up with a single gender and then keep on reproducing. The complexity of emotions, mind and many other non-physical aspects of human life are an extraordinary mystery.

Life is too complex. Look at a small seed of an oak tree (or any tree or plant) – extraordinary programming has gone into it. Once properly sown in the soil and fertilized, it has the ability to grow into a huge tree and survive for hundreds of years. Who did all this programming I don't know. Or for that matter take a human egg, when fertilized it has extraordinary programming to grow into a fetus and then a full-fledged baby and human who can live for years to come. All that programming in that small egg. As a matter of fact every single cell in our body has its own intelligence and is programmed in a certain way. Cells are programmed to fight any foreign object coming into the body to ward off illness. Most time such fight is successful but other times it is not. I read somewhere that AIDS cells fool the human cells and indicate that they are one of them and once successful in fooling multiply by millions and ravage the human body.

How can all that complexity be explained through the simple and random process of evolution? I don't know. I sure am bewildered by all this and I don't understand the mystery of life.

Evolution: Are humans really that evolved?

Animals can be very sentimental and get along so well. We humans have still a lot to learn from animals. The evolution process has a long way to go.

Humans and Jackasses

When nature/evolution/God let humans be, they were given two legs and feet for transportation. Initially humans used them and moved 10's of miles a day in search of food and shelter, but somehow nature/evolution/God knew that humans are going to be lazy creatures so many other means of transportation were created such as horses, camels, elephants, and jackasses. Yes jackasses with whom some greedy humans have a lot in common. I am sensitive to the fact that comparing certain humans to jackasses is not fair – not fair to jackasses as they perform an impressive job for people around the world, especially in the Asian and African continents.

Humans discovered wheels. Not there was anything wrong with this but it is the abuse which will cause problems. Then of course airplanes and ships on the seas. The sad part is that problems began when humans went for fossil fuels to energize all of these toys. That is when they went overboard, overdid it, and are overdoing the exploitation of fossil fuels and other sources of energy (I worry about nuclear too). Is it possible that fossil fuels and other energy sources were another one of those forbidden fruits that we were not supposed to touch, or at least not exploit so extensively. Now the resulting side effects of this energy consumption (CO2) may destroy our planet.

Energy companies are really behaving like jackasses. Okay they have billions and billions of dollars in profits, but what will they do with these profits if the planet is made uninhabitable. Too many of us love fossil fuels that we are willing to die for it. This deep adoration may bring an end to the planet as we know it. The energy which currently energizes our toys may become the tools of our destruction. Is it possible that the creator (through evolution or through God) regrets creating these monsters called humans? Something to think about...
