Vic Toews is quite a guy
Reading his bio I came across this.
"Toews divorced from his wife of 30 years, Lorraine Kathleen Fehr, after it was discovered that he had fathered a child with his 17 year old babysitter..." Wikipedia
Wow! Way to go Vic. Impressive resume. :) Recommend this post

Now What (and Especially WHO) Will Vic Toews Watch?

With all the bad news coming out of Canadian politics - dysfunctional Parliament, an arrogant, indifferent, and hard-rightwing prime minister - great to have some good news. The people spoke out, and won. On internet surveillance, Toews brought forward draconian, Big Brother style proposals with Bill C-30. Now Conservatives have backed off this after HUGE public backlash. The CONS tried Bush style "you're either wish us or against us" scare tactics. People didn't buy it and pushed back.
A very real victory against a draconian proposal by Harper CONS, a real victory by and for the Canadian people.

Verizon - When You Watch TV, TV Will Be Watching You
Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy
This is Big Brother, your own TV spying on you to serve big corporations so they can hawk their wares in advertising. This is really scary, Big Brother is a reality. I'm sure people like Vic Toews will be very happy, you will not be able to watch TV without being watched. This is one invention we don't need, and I don't think it should ever be used. Stephen Harper and Vic Toews: Conservative Priorities

Safe: Child's play.

Dangerous, may warrant police raids.
Conservative priorities are out of whack with reality: according to them, there's money for fighter jets and prisons we don't need, but cutting valuable staff from Environment Canada is okay... because there is not enough money? I guess Harper was worried that he and his tarsands buddies would be roundly disproven on their denial of climate change.
More recently, Harper has abolished the long gun registry - government does not need to know how many guns you own - but (along with his friend Vic Toews) wants to pass legislation to allow government to snoop on everything we do on the internet.
So... by CON-logic it's invasive if it's to do with guns... but it's okay for government to know - and keep track of - everything we do on the internet. I guess in Harperland, surfing on the internet is more dangerous than guns... because guns don't kill people, e-mails do?
This is a government out of touch with reality.
