Power Struggle: Putin, Russia and the West

I watched a documentary last night on "Putin, Russia and the West." It is an amazing story of power struggle between Russia and America. It revealed that how these two nations are trying to control the world politics, regime changes etc. Here is a small clip from the documentary:

"Even after eight years as President of Russia and four more as Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin ran for office again and in March 2012 won the Presidency in elections that are widely seen as fraudulent. Thousands have taken to the streets in protest. Putin, Russia and the West tells the inside story of one of the world’s most powerful men, a former KGB spy who made himself a valued ally of the West. How did he do it? And what made Washington and London eventually turn against him? For the first time Putin’s top colleagues - and the Western statesmen who eventually clashed with him - tell the inside story of the Russian leader’s role in shaping the world in the 21st century, including the prophetic warning about the Taliban that Putin delivered to President Bush three months before the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

In 2009, newly elected American President Barrack Obama set out to reset relations with Russia. Ignoring Putin, whom many considered still in charge, he concentrated on Medvedev. Top officials on both sides take viewers deep inside negotiations to cut their countries nuclear arsenal in half. They describe how a phone call between the two young lawyer-presidents finally clinched the agreement. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says: ‘No previous treaty between our Countries has ever been directly negotiated by our Presidents. But inside Russia, Medvedev has a harder time and in the end, he stepped aside and nominated Putin to be their party’s presidential candidate for the 2012 election. Top Kremlin insiders, including Medvedev and Putin, tell the how the deal was done – and how it set in motion a process that made Vladimir Putin look vulnerable for the first time."

Bradley Manning: A hero or a traitor

I believe that all Bradley Manning did was to expose the atrocities committed by the Americans in Iraq. He is a whistle-blower. Instead of making accountable and punish those who committed these crimes in Iraq; including Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld who invaded Iraq on false pretences; Bradley Manning is being punished. He is one of the many scapegoats. This is pure injustice.

Here is an interesting comment on Manning and Snowden case on the NBC story.

"Close the Fed

"So let this be a lesson Americans,,,,,

",,,,, if you DARE tell the truth about how our corrupt government is trampling on our citizens precious Constitutional Rights, how our government spy's on both private citizens and foreign dignitaries alike, how we constantly lie to our foreign partners, how we demand the right to keep secret our war crimes in the quest of corporate profit, how we have entered wars based on lies which have cost thousands of innocent lives and left foreign countries in chaos and waste , how our government is destroying the liberties bestowed by our forefathers and constructing a bleak, controlled police state for future generations,,,,,

,,,,, then we will disparage you, hunt you, we will threaten any country that takes you in, and we will destroy your life as we gleefully destroy liberty and truth!

( Ah yes, the American way..... Our way or we will sh!t on you bub!!! )

NBC has story on the reaction of Julian Assange of Wikileaks.

"WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has condemned the guilty verdicts passed on Pfc. Bradley Manning as a “clear abuse” of the First Amendment, ahead of the former Army intelligence analyst’s sentencing hearing Wednesday."

Archbishop Desmond Tutu : George Bush And Tony Blair Have Committed War Crimes

In a recent interview, Archbishop Desmond Tutu - a leading figure in the fight against apartheid in South Africa and a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize - stated that Tony Blair and George W. Bush should be charged with war crimes and tried at the Hague. He couldn't be more right. As reported in this Huffington Post article, Tutu stated that:

"The war was an illegal war. Everybody says that. It is not just I that will say it. They started off by going to the United Nations in order to get the backing of the United Nations. Then when they didn’t get what they wanted, they then went off on their own. Anyone with just a modicum of intelligence would say that it is an illegal and therefore immoral war."

Tutu continued.

"I said they should do at least one thing, apologize for lying to their people, for lying to the world. And then, if they are still obstinate, I should mean to say they really ought to be charged."

Blair and Bush based a war - the War in Iraq - on a lie. Hundreds and thousands died as a result with many more suffering. For what? Oil, and serving the interests of corporate buddies. Why is it only leaders in developing countries are subject to war crimes investigations? The leader of a current empire - the United States - and former empire - Britain - should be just as subject to scrutiny.

How Martin Luther King would have felt about, Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice?

In a sketch that Art Spiegelman proposed during George W. Bush's first
term, King's dream becomes a nightmrare as black leaders like
Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice provide cover for George W. Bush.

A proposed cover which The New Yorker did not publish.

Matt Damon “‘I Would Kiss George W. Bush on the Mouth' for His AIDS Work”

Matt Damon: I would kiss George W. Bush on the mouth for what he did on PEPFAR.

Reporter Jeffrey Goldberg: How long would you kiss him?

Matt Damon: Three seconds. No tongue.

Read Matt story here.

I will personally kick George W. Bush on his butts for the murder and mayhem he caused in Iraq. His invasion of Iraq was totally unjustified and it can only be characterized as the major savagery of 21st century. This man along with his co-conspirators Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld must be tried in The International Court in the Hague.

Stephen Harper: Is Canada on the Right Path?

Is this the Canada we know? Remember when Canada was known as a peace-keeper, as a country that played a productive role on the world stage? Remember when we had governments that were not wedded to neo-conservative ideology? That valued our social safety net.

Stephen Harper was already slowly changing Canada in a harsher, less caring, more militaristic direction. Now, with a majority government, this Reform Party Prime Minister has free reign to re-make Canada in a neo-conservative image.

Harper and his buddy David Cameron favour slashing social programs during a severe recession, using voodoo economics to justify policies that worsen the lives of Canadians when they need the government's help. On the world stage, Canada is a pariah on climate change. It is also a pariah on foreign affairs in general with Canada following a Bushian policy of shoot first, ask questions later.

Canada's reputation was so thrashed that it was denied a seat on the UN Security Council.

Then there is a the martial law with the G-20 in Toronto. Also the restricting of immigration so that Harper can have a Canadian population more in an image he prefers. The list goes on and on.

What happened to our country? With less than 40% popular support, Harper is fundamentally remaking Canada, and taking it in a scary direction.

Invasion of Afghanistan and destabilization of Pakistan

We heard a lot about Afghanistan and the atrocities committed there. However, we hear little to nothing about the havoc inflicted on Pakistan because of the invasion. There is a good story on MSNBC with a slide show that is quite an eye-opener.
Read the story here and roll down in the link to see the slides.
A few slides are about the recent floods but the majority are about the overflow of violence from Afghanistan into Pakistan. It looks that Pakistan has become the major victim after 9/11 with the botched Afghanistan invasion by Bush and the escalation by Obama. One feels sorry for Pakistanis as they had no participation in the 9/11 terror attack or any extremist organization at the time. Now it is a quagmire in itself.

Here is some sampling of the slides on MSNBC site:

Rick Perry: “Bush defended us from freedom"

Rick Perry, Governor of Texas, once in a while speaks the truth. I could not agree with him more when he said “George W. Bush did a incredible job in the presidency, defending us from freedom.” What a dreadful world Bush/Cheney left for many generations to come. Look at the airport security, complete nude scans, you cannot carry any liquid. After shoe-bomber and underwear bomber soon you may not be able to wear shoes or underwear in an airplane – hence keeping that damn freedom away. Read more here.

Keith Olbermann thanks Bush for the Iraq war

Keith Olbermann of MSNBC thanks Bush in a fitting manner. But why Barack Obama did not do the same in his speech on August 31st? It looks Keith Olbermann understands Bush much better than Obama.

Many in the US and around the world firmly believe that Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld are war criminals and that they committed crimes against humanity. I suppose for Barack Obama to take a firm stand on that would be politically very risky. Any politician’s first and foremost priority seems to be to win elections and all other matters are secondary to that top priority.

Barack Obama is secretly a Muslim

Keith Olbermann of MSNBC does a special investigation and reveals Obama’s identity which Obama had kept secret since he was 2 years old. Olbermann’s investigation also reveals that the first Muslim convert to live in the Whitehouse was none other than George W. Bush himself who removed all the bibles from the Whitehouse and replaced them with a Quran.

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir charged with genocide

If Omar al-Bashir committed the crimes that he is alleged to have committed then it is the right move by the International Criminal Court. However, I do believe that similar crimes were committed by George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld and their gang. Many Congressmen in the US think this gang committed war crimes and crimes against humanity. Should Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, et al, not be charged too?

There is a lot of hypocrisy in the world. The US and especially George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld can go into a country and cause murder and mayhem, killing heads of states with no action against them. As long as there is hypocrisy of that kind sadly there will be no peace in this world. Injustice gives rise to retaliations, and more violence.

Read the Omar al-Bashir story here.
