This picture says it quite well.
We are expecting similar conditions in Maritimes starting this evening. Plus there is a forecast of freezing rain. This storm is moving from south to north-east.

New York Subway Murder: What is this world coming to?
Image from surveillance video released by the NYPD shows a woman wanted

It is staggering that there are such people out there, people capable of such hatred and cruelty. A woman shoved a man onto a subway track in New York City because, as she stated, she hates Muslims and Hindus because of 9/11 (of course no Hindus were involved in 9/11 and Al Qaeda represents a tiny tiny fraction of Muslims).
This woman's ignorance and hatred is unbelievable.
It is actually unclear if the man killed was Muslim - he was from India - so may have been Hindu or Christian.

Mahmoud Abdel Salam Omar follows the example of Strauss-Kahn

What is with these bankers? First it was Strauss-Kahn of France, former chair of IMF, and now Mahmoud Abdel Salam Omar, Former Chair Of Major Egypt Bank, who cinches (I mean "grab". Apparently cinch as a noun has different meanings) a maid in New York hotel. Why New York hotel maids? Is the escort service too expensive in N.Y.

Renovation of Synagogue in Beirut, Lebanon
While the controversy over an Islamic center in N.Y. rages on this story about the renovation of a Synagogue in Beirut is a breath of fresh air. Fareed Zakaria had a piece on his show last Sunday. In N.Y there may be a few 9/11 victims’ families who are concerned but it is the bigots and racists who are flaring the fire of hatred and anger and some Repugs and Tea-Baggers are making political hay out of it. We must not forget that dozens of Muslims, who were working in the building at the time, were victims of the 9/11 tragedy as well. When will societies rid of themselves of this disease of bigots? This bigotry is a major source of trouble in many societies around the world.
I believe freedom of religion is a fundamental right and few fanatics must not be allowed to hijack this freedom and create additional problems in the world. As if Bush and Cheney have not done enough. The example of the renovation of the synagogue in Beirut must be a guide for the rest of the world. Recommend this post

Jim Flaherty in New York
While in N.Y. he had some fun and dropped by a concert hall. :) What fascination these politicians have with N.Y. I suppose it is a lot more fun when taxpayers pay for these trips. Recommend this post
