Karzai speaks up

Karzai was interviewed over the weekend by Amanpour of CNN. She asked him about the troop surge. His response was very blunt and more less meant "put up or shut up". He said the US and west trained so-called insurgents/extremists and now they are posing a threat to the US and the West. So now put up with it or help Afghanistan to overcome the problem. He was a very frustrated Karzai.

The reality is that Bush was offered by the Taliban government to put Osama Bin Laden on trial but instead Bush decided to invade Afghanistan in the name of democracy. Now over 8 years later and many war atrocities, casualties and destruction, where are we? We don't learn from our blunders. Once the colonialism stops maybe we will have alot fewer problems in the world. Right now might is right rules, or destroys, whichever way you wish to look at it.

Barack Obama’s Strategy for Afghanistan – Part 2

Here it is folks in nutshell, in case you did not watch the news or missed his speech.

1.He will send 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan and complete the deployment process by June.

2.From June 2010 to June 2011 he will complete the following:

A) Defeat Taliban, defeat Al-Queda and all the other bad guys in Afganistan.

B) Reform the Afghanistan government. Get rid of corruption and put a democratic government in place; and train the Afghan army.

C) Get rid of the Taliban and Al-Qaeda and other bad guys in Pakistan and stabilize the government in Pakistan who will be friendly to the U.S.

June 2011: Mission Accomplished and withdrawal begins in time for the next presidential election. Damn Bush and Cheney could not do that in 8 years. My with that kind of Superman abilities why not elect him for life instead of another term?

I will like Obama to succeed. But you be the judge of his Afghan strategy.

Barack Obama the new conquer of Afghanistan?

It looks Obama will cave in to his generals and send another 34,000 plus soldiers to Afghanistan. Where Alexander the Great, the British and the Soviets failed, is Obama going to succeed? Especially, he is propping up a very corrupt Karzai government. Yes he is going to put some terms and conditions on Karzai but who is going to implement those terms and conditions? Who is going to watch over? A Human Rights Commission was created a while ago but did it succeed to curb the human rights violations and torture? Good luck Obama.

So far Obama had an easy ride despite the heated discussion on healthcare, but now he fully owns up to the Afghanistan war. Will he succeed or will it end up being Obama's Vietnam.

Too much murder and mayhem has been carried out in Iraq and Afghanistan and very little gains to show other than making the U.S extremely unpopular in the Middle East and in the Afghanistan/Pakistan region. Pakistanis were recently asked who they fear most, 60% said Americans and only 20% said Taliban (probably the figure was even lower for Taliban). More troops more causalities. How are Americans going to react to that? Meanwhile the life of the average Afghani is becoming more and more miserable. So much for freeing Afghanis from the Taliban.

Afghanis never attacked the U.S either, they have no such an interest. Those who are alleged to have participated in 9/11 were Saudis and other Arabs. Diplomacy would have worked much better to get hold of such insurgents. I don't think there is a need for more troops but there sure is a need for a different strategy.

US and NATO governments/forces are telling us that they brought freedom to Afghanistan.

Watch the above videos and see what this war is doing to the children of Afghanistan alone. In the top video look at the faces of children very carefully. Bottom video elaborates a little more as to what is happening. According to one estimate 60,000 children live on the streets of Kabul alone. Parents are so desperate that they are selling their children to feed the rest of the family. Is this progress? If you have a heart and watch this video, it will bring tears to your eyes. Afghanis need peace and a better life, not more war and a playground for big powers to test their war toys. Those who are benefiting the most from such wars are the war and weapons industries. Wake up world, we are not that evolved yet and we are not that civilized either if we are allowing this to happen.

Afghanistan: Another soldier gives the ultimate sacrifice with his life

Pte. Patrick Lormand was only 21. It is very sad.

Our mission in Afghanistan needs to be re-assessed. In the recent Afghan elections there are complaints of hundreds of fraud cases. Karzai's own former foreign minister and now his main political opponent Abdullah Abdullah has spoken out about the rampant fraud. On CNN he said that Karzai is doing as much harm to Afghan society as the Taliban. This is very depressing to hear when our soldiers are giving their lives to better the lives of Afghans. Unfortunately the lives of Afghans are not getting better, it is definitely not the fault of the soldiers, it is the corrupt political system in Afghanistan.

Karzai is allied with war lords and drug lords and yet all he can claim control of is Kabul - that's why he is called "the Mayor of Kabul." Maybe he needs these alliances to merely survive. Can NATO change that situation? Many experts say not through military force. The only solution left is negotiations, including with tribes allied to the Taliban, and to put a government in place that will better represent the will of the people of Afghanistan. A very tall order.

Our main concern must remain that our soldiers are not giving their lives in vain.

Click here to read the story of Pte. Patrick Lormand.

I intended to write more about the Afghanistan situation, the Karzai government, the corruption and fraudulent elections as claimed by Karzai opponents and some independent observers, but out of respect for Pte. Patrick Lormand I leave it at this for the time being.
