David Letterman: Worldwide Pants

Was Letterman caught with his pants down? Surely Sarah Palin must have opened the champagne yesterday. Remember he gave her a hard time about her daughters and Palin was quite miffed. By the way, the name of his company is The Worldwide Pants and apparently he could not keep his pants up.

Despite his pre-empting the alleged extortionist, Robert "Joe" Halderman, on his show he may still have problems of his own. One of the women involved is also Halderman's girlfriend and Letterman's producer. Is it possible she may file for sexual harassment? Or is it possible some other women will come forward and file for sexual harassment, saying that they agreed for sex because they felt intimidated and did not want to lose their jobs or promotions. Was he having these jollies when he was married to his current wife? Letterman may still have problems. Time will tell.

Sarah Palin and David Letterman

When I first heard of David Letterman's joke about Sarah Palin's daughter, saying that she could have been knocked up by some baseball player, I thought it was in very poor taste and not a joke at all. Then he backtracked and apologized and said his joke was indeed in bad taste and said that joke was about Palin's 18 years old daughter. At that point a good mother and good politician should have backed off, but apparently Sarah Palin is neither. She keeps dragging her 14 years old daughter into the controversy and keeps going, and going and going and going.

Palin was all over the media, on CNN, NBC and other news outlets, talking about it and trying to gather political capital on the back of her 14 years old daughter. No one has told Palin when to shut up. Then of course a reporter asked her about Obama and she basically said he sucks and that it is weakness to cut defence spending, that Alaska could be attacked by North Korea and that she needs to build a bigger missile defence in Alaska. So on and so forth. She may be able to run a small state (and even there her job approval numbers are dropping) but can she really lead a party and a country?

Bush will be sorely missed...

...by comedians.

David Letterman's Great Moments in Presidential Speeches

Maybe they should open an amusement park devoted to Dubya and his stumbles. Shoes will be a big item for sale at such a park. His shoe monument should be at the entrance of the park. It will amuse the kids for few generations to come.

David Letterman and John McCain

Early on in September, when John McCain suspended his campaign and said the economy was in trouble, he made many gaffes. One of them was his cancelling of his scheduled appearance on David Letterman's Late Night Show. He called David Letterman and said that he was leaving for New York and was headed for Washington DC. It turned out that he actually did not go to Washington until the next day and during the Letterman show he was in a studio next door giving an interview to Katie Couric. David Letterman was rightly upset.

Finally on the 16th of October McCain did show up on David Letterman's show. When Letterman asked him for not showing up last time, he had no answer but to say that he screwed up.

I think he screwed up the whole thing. He did not achieve anything in Washington DC and by politicising the bailout package he became a hindrance. Then there was the first debate between him and Barack Obama coming up and he said he was too busy solving problems in Washington DC and that he may not attend the debate. Then he showed up anyway. Is his whole campaign not a big screw up? About time for John to admit that too.
