You Have to Register Your Car, But Not Your Gun
Stephen Harper abolished Canada's long gun registry, considering it an infringement on gun rights. Harper wants to follow the American model it seems - where there are lax restrictions on gun ownership and purchase.
However, is that the model we want in Canada? Gun violence is a serious problem in the United States, something brought home by the tragic Connecticut shootings, where young children were killed in a rampage by firearms taken from the perpetrator's mother.
Will Harper continue on this path of lowering gun control? The tragedy in Connecticut shows the need for restrictions and controls on firearms. Recommend this post
