Gaza, Death and Destruction Continues

I think every nation and its people have the right to exist, but that right must not be extended to being an aggressor on others. This has gone on for too long and the killing and destruction has not solved the problem so far. Since Israel has such military superiority in the region, it must not take the liberty of invading its neighbours almost at will. Unfortunately the most powerful nation in the world, the United States (and frankly Harper and Ignatieff here in Canada as well) are providing tacit, or may be not so tacit, approval.

How long will leaders in Canada and the United States stand by and watch? At least in Europe political leaders are already speaking up against Israel's actions.

All the fair-minded people around the world are demonstrating against this uneven and unfair war. Palestinians in Gaza are already living in sub-human conditions and now this severe punishment. This approach of Israel will not bring peace in the region and may bring upheaval around the world. Sensible leaders must speak up. Unfortunately Bush and Harper cannot be considered amongst the sensible ones.

  1. I find it hard to believe that this keeps getting more dire by the day. If the Israelis are indeed using cluster bombs, there is no hope for peace in our lifetime. Maybe peace is an illusion.

  2. I saw your post on cluster bombing. It is a strong possibility and sad. I left a comment under your post.
