  1. I keep planting roses and keep losing half of them over the winter. Giving it one more try, sticking to hardy zone 2 types. They are terrific, such a variety.

  3. 900ft J, you're having bad luck. I planted one in front of the house. It grew well first year and second year it was a big bush. Now every fall I cut it down so that it does block the view from the living room window.

    The trick I use is that after digging the hole, before you put the plant in, I mix plenty of fertilizer with the soil at the bottom. After putting the plant in I add a little bit fertilizer in the remaining soil and fill the rest of the hole.

    I planted quite a few plants in the back yard around the deck with similar results.
