GOP Debates and the State of the Republican Party

I admit, I am a political junkie. I enjoy following elections and rarely miss any national level debates whether Canadian or American.

Watching the GOP presidential debate on February 22nd in Arizona, I have to say, this is the worse group of candidates any political party has ever put forward - Ron Paul the physician at least has some good ideas on foreign policy, but a dangerous small government policy domestically. Then there's Romney the cardboard cut-out, fake Santorum, and lobbyist money-bags Gingrich, the last one claiming to "run against Washington" when he's the poster boy of Washington corruption.

These candidates are scary - they scare you that there is a God who is only for the United States, where the rest of the world must bend to America's will. If any country does not comply, then severe sanctions or invasion and slaughter. The exception to this point of course is Ron Paul, but he is a long-shot for the nomination.

Is this the best the Republicans can do? Is this the state of American politics today? Scary, especially as America is the most powerful country in the world.
