Osama Bin Laden was used by the Bush administration as a Raison d'être for military actions in Afghanistan and Iraq. Now that Bin Laden is gone what is Obama going to do? Some say the real reason for invasion of Afghanistan was to construct a gas pipeline through Afghanistan to transport natural gas from the former USSR states to the Indian Ocean. To get to Bin Laden there were easier ways through the help of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan but that was not the purpose. We all know now that Saddam had no WMDs and it was for oil and so it is true for Libya – in Libya again it is for oil and not protecting civilians. As a matter of fact it may just happen that more civilians will be killed as a result of the intervention than if we let Arabs take care of the Gadhafi problem.
Donald Trump is a big mouth but he speaks the truth when he says these wars are all about oil and fossil fuels and otherwise the US must not kill people or get its own soldiers killed. I don’t think the death of Bin Laden will bring peace. U.S and NATO has to make peace with Afghanistan and the Middle East in order to achieve peace. There are diplomatic ways to get fossil fuels other than murder and mayhem. I suppose without war the weapons industries in the U.S will lose profits and they don’t want that to happen. I don't think the death of Bin Laden will bring peace at all. Case in point. Did the capture and death of Saddam Hussein stop the war in Iraq??

Of course the death of Bin Laden would happen under Obama's watch. Obama needs something to campaign on for his next presidential campaign.
What's next is that the hagfish of the seabed will leisurely devour Osama's remains and return what had been him to the circle of life.
ReplyDeleteI did look it up and burial at sea is permissible under the Quran but they would rather the body be encased in an urn so that it can rest intact on the ocean floor for a bit before the bottom feeders get at it. Betcha didn't know that!

Mound, I didn’t know that Muslim religion allowed sea-bed burial. Obvious reasons seem to be that his grave would have become an instant shrine if he was buried on land in Pakistan or Afghanistan.
