I posted this picture while ago. I was not so far off. Harper’s attempts to change the national anthem flopped. What is next on the agenda? He could say that current flag is not Canadian enough and needs “C” in there. Change is coming you may not ‘C’ it yet.
You're not seriously suggesting that the ridiculous proposal to make the lyrics more gender neutral was somehow an attempt to brand the anthem as "Conservative" are you?

Issachar, no I am not. I suppose it can be misconstrued the way my post is. Anthem was more of a diverting attention away from the real issues – economy, unemployment, Afghanistan inquiry etc. If I remember right funding for some of the women rights groups were cut by Harper. So this was pure hypocrisy.
ReplyDeleteAs far as the flag is concerned it is suggesting, in a humorous way, that Harper wants to leave the imprint of his brand of Conservatism on Canadian society.
