Do Stephen Harper and Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon have any humanity left in them? They keep on firing their verbal cannon that it is all about Israel's self-defence. Every passing day it is becoming harder to believe. The tacit (and not so tacit) approval by the Harper government is giving a black eye to Canada's past reputation as a peacekeeper.
Harper and Cannon are reading from Bush's playbook or talking points, but what is with our leader Ignatieff? When will red hot Liberal blood boil in him so that he sees the reality and call a spade a spade. European nations have caught on and French President Sarkozy is visiting the area. Even Obama, who has been keeping mostly silent on the issue (which raises criticisms of its own, though at least he is not yet sworn into office), has expressed regret at the loss of lives in Gaza.
Come on Canada.
Recently, 40 people (including children) were killed when a UN school in Gaza, which was being used as a shelter, was hit. Sorry folks, I must admit, I feel too upset to write anymore. The pictures above speak volumes.

Gaza Bloodshed and the Harper Government's reaction
The way Liblogs is censoring posts, it is definitely anti-Liberal. Below, I've re-posted the removed entry.

alike are afraid to voice opinions contrary to Israel in fear of being labeled Anti-Semite. The hands are tied all around. Except it seems for some brave bloggers who describe what is happening with words and pictures an are being vilified for doing so.
ReplyDeleteSorry, first words were accidentally deleted. Should be:
ReplyDelete"Pols and journalists alike..."
You are very brave, LeDaro! Know that you are not alone in dissent. My heart goes out to you.
ReplyDeleteGene, it is difficult to swallow censorship and hence oppression and dictatorship in my own country.
ReplyDeleteThe way I see it, Le Daro, is that short of hate speech, people are allowed to say and do what they want. I don't agree with Jason at all on the Israel/Palestine issue but it is my strongly held belief that he has the right to do what he thinks is warranted in the circumstances ... just as you have the right to fight back. History will be the judge, not you nor I. We each can only do what we have to do according to our conscience.
ReplyDeleteGene, I agree with you. However, if Palestinians were doing what Israel is doing from the last week and half I will be equally critical. To see the pictures of dead and dying children, women and other innocent citizens gets to me. I think I am speaking from my conscience.
ReplyDeleteAll I did was take those pictures and put them on one screen.
I know. Same here. Bon courage!
ReplyDeleteThis is what you are whining was censored? Thank goodness they were deleted.
ReplyDeleteThese photos are revolting. Many people view this at work you know. We can choose to visit or not visit juvenile sites like this one but we don't get to vet what shows up on the aggregator.
You are one sick puppy, LeDaro. No one is saying you can't any of the many stupid things you've been saying - and for proof have any of your non-photo posts been deleted? - but these photos are graphic and stomach turning. I don't want any kind of image like that on my screen uninvited - whether it is of extremist Muslims beheading someone for becoming Christian or stoning someone for being raped, whether it is of American torture in Abu Ghraib, whether it is Germans at Auschwitz.
It has nothing to do with being pro-/anti-Israel.
Ted, you guys’ venom is coming right through. I have seen worse pictures of blood and gory on Liblog and they were not censored. This goes to show how biased and cold-blood you fellows are.
ReplyDeleteYou refuse to admit the bloodshed Israel is carrying out in Gaza. It is as simple as that.
Gene, merci.
ReplyDeleteWow.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was ignorant to refer to this whole thing as "censorship" but then you add "oppression and dictatorship" in the comments!?!?!?
Your framing of this whole issue is a real discredit to legitimate, hard working oppressive censoring dictators.
I swear, I'm not sure we'll make it all the way to 2010 with the words censorship, dictatorship, or oppression maintaining any sense of meaning at all. If we're gonna just throw terms around with no concern whatsoever for their meaning and context, why not just attack Cherniak for "fugelbusting" your post?
"I have seen worse pictures of blood and gory on Liblog and they were not censored."
ReplyDeleteAgain, you are completely making things up. Please provide a single example. If you've seen them, it should not be a problem.
"You refuse to admit the bloodshed Israel is carrying out in Gaza."
Again, you are completely making things up. I've in no way denied that many innocent Palestinians have died. I've said nothing of the sort. I have said that, unlike Hamas, Israels are not specifically targetting Palestinians. That, unlike Hamas, they are not intentionally trying to kill innocent civilians and children.
Obviously you prefer Hamas's approach which is your right. But please don't continue to invent things I've said or believe in just to make your "point".
I see lots of people taking issue with Israel's actions in the reality-based world without supporting Hamas like you have chosen to. Come back to the reality-based world, LeDaro. You'll find the air a lot cleaner.
Ted, now you're champion in making things up. Show me a single statement anywhere where I supported or defended Hamas.
ReplyDeleteSo you admit you are making things up.
ReplyDeleteYour various posts claim that your graphic death-porn would not be deleted from Liblogs if it was about Israelis. You say you've seen this. Where? Are you mis-remembering or outright lying or do you have a single bit of evidence?
Look Teddy, now you’re putting word in another person's mouth. You wait and an example may come up.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I cannot find past posts of Liblog as there does not seem to be any archive
As for supporting Hamas, aside from regurgitating Hamas talking points and doing its propaganda work, there are the photos you posted (just who do you think is distributing those?).
ReplyDeleteAnd there is this:
"Yes Hamas must not fire rockets into Israel. On the other side of the equation is to remove blockades and let the Palestinians live like humans. If you keep people oppressed then there will be resistance and revolt. It is human nature and we must learn from history."
You have yet to once criticize Hamas for intentionally trying to kill innocent civilians or to launch rockets from civilian sites in Palestine.
I could go on but you are beyond any help or reason or fact.
I'll comment further if you can provide me with a single shred of this evidence you say you have of graphic pro-Israel death scenes being displayed on Liblogs.
By the way Teddy you're saying you are at work. What kind of employer you have that allows you to be on other people's blog all the time. You're very dishonest towards your employer as he/she may be under the impression that you're working..
