The Fall of Stephen Harper

Stephen Harper has been daring the opposition for quite a while now, especially before the last election. He forgot he had a minority in the House of Commons. His arrogance and game playing caught up with him and he brought about his own fall. He cannot blame anyone else for it. No matter who the new leader of Liberal Party is, Stephen Harper will have hard time surviving come January. If Liberals roll over again under the new leader then they will lose their credibility. By proroguing the Parliament in order to avoid a no-confidence vote Harper is bordering on being an illegitimate Prime Minister.

  1. I agree, King Kong must go. ;)

At the same time we have to make sure, absolutely, that the time is right unless we become crucified in a too soon election which could happen if the Govt. falls.

  2. At this point in time, I am feeling quite disappointed that the Liberal part of the coalition is turning out to be the "weak link" beyond Dion.
Dion was the problem right from the start and personally the coalition stood and still stands a decent chance with a change of leadership of the party.
But with liberal MPs doing public musings, along the lines of Iggy "coalition or not coalition depending, is sinking Canadians imagining the possibility.
I'm wondering how much Liberals are willing to "sell out Joe and Mary Canadian" to prevent an election? Here's the list - job stimulation for workers, EI reform, workers' rights, women's equal pay for work of equal value?
If it comes down to them supporting Harper by keeping the $1.95 per vote, I will know that liberals are more interest in their party surviving than what is happening on the ground on main streets across Canada.
A close friend the other day said to me that the coalition formation resparked alot of interest of ordinary Canadians who had turned away from electorial politics. It was that imagination of what could be. I hope coalition supporters stay the course.
