  1. With all this hullabalo going on between Flaherty and our Ontario government over the Provincial budget I have been angry for awhile, but this makes me smile. I do remember Rick Mercer and Bob!

  2. Lizt, I am glad that the pic made you smile.

Flaherty is upto no good. He is stepping onto provincial jurisdiction - there is a clear seperation between federal and provincial juridictions. Someone in his staff must remind him that he is federal finance minister, now.

  3. And perhaps next time McSquinty askes for money from the Fed to pay for the mess they made in Caledonia, someone will remind him that it is a provicial problem...not mine in BC.

I think Flaherty is trying to persuade McSquinty to create the catalyst for investment in Ontario by lowering business taxes, not to shift blame in the event of a recession.

Face it, the Ontario Libs are bad fiscal managers. Period.

I look at what Ontarians pay in taxes, especially property related taxes, and I have to wonder if there is some sort of mass rectal-cranial inversion going on with the voters there.

Oh well, I guess we elect the governments we deserve.

And now it looks like the next federal Liberal leader may well be a NDP socialist that was one of the worst things ever to happen to Ontario.

    I shake my head....

  4. Hi Jim: How are you? Your presidential candidate Ron Paul did not do well. He is a likable fellow. However, I heard he made some controversial racist remarks in the past. That does not help. He was a long shot anyway.

I am not going to defend McGuinty as I do not know what is going on in Ontario currently. However, I do believe he is a great improvement on Mike Harris. I think Harris did maximum damage to social programs. Even Tories in Ontario are distancing themselves from the Harris era and politics.

I do not think feds should meddle with provincial affairs. It is skating on the thin ice and asking for a lot of trouble. Imagine if Flaherty does the same to Quebec. There will be a national crisis. There is a definite federal/provincial separation of jurisdictions.

Bob Rae? Again I do not know what to say. I do not think he was a successful premier in Ontario. May be people change.

  5. I am well thanks.

Yep, Ron Paul was a longshot, but you gotta admire the man's moxie! I don't think the racist remark thing amounted to a hill of beans. Really though, any candidate that stands for the elimination of the IRS, the withdrawl from NATO and the UN is most certainly entertaining!

    Be well.

  6. Oh and BTW, I do kinda agree...the Feds should avoid direct involvement in provincial politics...especially the Conservatives who try to tout more provincial autonomy and power.

But as there are no clear guidelines as to what is and isn't "policy", I expect we will see it time and time again, just as we have in the past...no matter what party forms the government.
