Does God Exist?

This question has been in my mind since I was a child. To this day, I have not found the answer. I have read parts of the Torah, the Bible, and the Quran, but never got any convincing evidence. Unfortunately I remain agnostic, unless somebody can prove to me otherwise.

I came across this very interesting article, Does God Exist? The writer makes some very interesting points:

Does God exist? The complexity of our planet points to a deliberate Designer who not only created our universe, but sustains it today.

Many examples showing God's design could be given, possibly with no end. But here are a few:

The Earth...its size is perfect. The Earth's size and corresponding gravity holds a thin layer of mostly nitrogen and oxygen gases, only extending about 50 miles above the Earth's surface. If Earth were smaller, an atmosphere would be impossible, like the planet Mercury. If Earth were larger, its atmosphere would contain free hydrogen, like Jupiter. Earth is the only known planet equipped with an atmosphere of the right mixture of gases to sustain plant, animal and human life.

The Earth is located the right distance from the sun. Consider the temperature swings we encounter, roughly -30 degrees to +120 degrees. If the Earth were any further away from the sun, we would all freeze. Any closer and we would burn up. Even a fractional variance in the Earth's position to the sun would make life on Earth impossible. The Earth remains this perfect distance from the sun while it rotates around the sun at a speed of nearly 67,000 mph. It is also rotating on its axis, allowing the entire surface of the Earth to be properly warmed and cooled every day.

And our moon is the perfect size and distance from the Earth for its gravitational pull. The moon creates important ocean tides and movement so ocean waters do not stagnate, and yet our massive oceans are restrained from spilling over across the continents.

It's a fascinating article to read. It is long but worth reading. To read the rest of the article, please click here.

Only confirms how the human mind casts itself upon and defines the outside world. Read some Feuerbach for a perfect corrective.

    1. Thank you anon for your comment and the link.

  2. The evidence of our planet being complex is not evidence, nor a serious argument proving that God exists. Nature itself is very complex. You're right, the question does God exist is not an easy one to answer. It can be answered however. I found my answer by studying philosophy, particularly Aristotle. To each their own though. You may find your answer through a different study.

    1. Pamela, thank you for your very thoughtful comment. I read quite a few books and philosophical views, including Aristle, on God. That has taken me to agnostic stage. I will continue my search

  3. Does G-d exist? In my humble opinion, yes.

But, my definition? Our existence is G-d. We are part of "it". All of our existence IS G-d. The earth (and all it contains), the solar system - the galaxy and the universe. It is all G-d and we are part of it.

    ... just my humble opinion.

  4. UU4077, thank you for your comment. That thought has crossed my mind quite often. I read a book on that vision of God. I have read parts of Torah, Bible and Quran. Prophet Muhammad said that God is closers than your jugular and He is everywhere. That is somewhat similar what you said.So far I am agnostic and I will continue my search.
