Finally, Stephen Harper is gone - an end to a decade-long nightmare for our country. His politics of control, fear, and division finally caught up to him. We got our country back, an end to scapegoating religious minorities, an end to the war on science, and hopefully the return to a sane foreign policy.

I think Justin Trudeau could be a good Prime Minister and it was great that his victory speech included a strong affirmation of multiculturalism.

It would have been nice for the Greens to get more seats. Among other things, they are the only party who unconditionally oppose the Energy East tarsands pipeline. At least Elizabeth May is back in Parliament though.

  1. I just saw something on Facebook suggesting that Elizabeth May should be named Environment Minister, LD. Now, wouldn't that be something?

  2. Great idea, Lorne. She is the only one who fully understands environmental problems and global warming.

I am glad that Harper is gone. We will have to wait and see how Justin Trudeau handles the national issues including environment.

  3. I'm pretty happy. The very day after it hit me that I can once again post on social media without worrying about losing my job! That says a lot. I really hope Trudeau comes through. Anyone I spoke to who met him says he's the real deal, compassionate, loves Canada above all, inclusive, wants an open and accountable government. Let's keep the pressure on him, though! :) (glad to see you are still here, LeDaro.) - 900ft J

  4. Jude, thank you for your comment. I agree with you. Trudeau does come across compassionate indeed. His father was P.M. for many years and young Trudeau understands government much better unlike Harper - he knows that government is to serve people and not rule people which Harper did.
