Identity theft

I have heard a lot about identity theft but thank God I have not experienced it. A friend tells me that he received over 200 e-mails from a blogger whose blog name I know. He said he tried to check sender's e-mail address and it showed 'no-reply' e-mail. After that he deleted all the e-mails without checking the message as he was so shocked. He is considering to alert the police.

Blogger whose name appeared as a sender is not that type of person and I don't think he will do such a thing and looks he does not know about it.

Has it happened to anyone else? It is very worrisome.
