Millions of Brazilians show up to greet Pope Francis

This pope is quite an improvement on his predecessor.

Here are millions of people who believe in the Pope and religion despite that Catholic Church has troubled past and those troubles are not over yet.

Now these people feel happiness and satisfaction. It gives them some meaning and purpose in life. Should we take their faith away from them? Religion does play an important role in peoples’ lives. I am not sure what to make of it.

  1. Like any institution, the church can potentially be a force of good or a force of evil (and like most institutions it is probably a force of both at the same time). One thing seems clear - this is the first Pope in a long time who has any real sense of humility and seems to possess a genuine concern for the poor. He may or may not turn out to be a revolutionary figure who really transforms the church, but at the very least he seems to be toning down the hate that was coming from the papacy in recent generations and he is talking like a man seeking reconciliation rather than confrontation.

  2. Kirby, thank you for your comment. I totally agree with your evaluation of the religion and Catholicism in this case.

The new Pope indeed has all those qualities that you listed.
