Why he looks so happy? Close to $140,000 a year plus many perks:
Senators are eligible for retirement at age 55 and receive 75 percent of their salary as a pension. Other perks of being a senator include 64 round trips to anywhere in Canada every year and a $20,000 allowance for travel expenses for senators living more than 100 km from the Canadian capital.
For doing what?
I want this job. Where and how should I apply?
One of things you have to remember about Senator Duffy is that in his former life as a 'journalist' for CTV and as host of Power Play, he worked long and hard, with nary a semblance of reportorial impartiality, to boost the Conservatives' fortunes at every opportunity. Therefore, I'm sure that in his mind, he richly deserves the reward he was given by Mr. Harper for his unstinting loyalty, a loyalty that is second to none, not even the ever-obsequious Senator Pam Wallin.
ReplyDeleteLorne, thank you for explaining. You’re quite right. That leaves no hope for me to get a senate job.:)
