Humans and Desire

Watch CBS News Videos Online

Once in a while Andy Rooney provides a great commentary towards the end of CBS's 60 Minutes program. Last night, April 18, 2010, was one of those commentaries. He talked about out of control human desire and a need for an anti-desire pill or kill-the-desire pill. It could be one of the great advances in modern medicine.

Imagine what it can do. A desire kill pill can control the likes of Tiger Woods, John Edwards, and Eric Massa. It can be a miracle pill for many political leaders and leaders of all kinds.

If there was such a pill Osama Bin Laden could have been given it to kill his desire to conquer the US. It would have controlled the desire of Bush to be a great conqueror of Afghanistan and Iraq. Imagine how many lives could have been saved and how many billions of dollars could have been saved. Today we would have no economic crisis especially if Wall Street bigwigs had been given the same pill.

Imagine the desires of Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and many of their ilk; their desire to talk bull could have been controlled just by a desire killing pill.

We could have saved the world of a lot of unnecessary wars and tragedies.

Maybe Obama should amend his healthcare plan and include the desire-killing pill when it becomes available. Instead of death panels, which Sarah Palin talks about non-stop, there could be desire killing panels.

Imagine how kids could have been saved from predator priests and bishops. Maybe Cardinal Ratzinger would have not needed to change his identity to Pope Benedict XVI. Look at the Catholic Church and the mess it is in. All because of the uninhibited sexual desires of some predators. You may watch on Catholic Church misdeeds here and judge for yourself.

Yes the world needs that magic pill called anti-desire or desire killing pill. Hurry up medical profession.
