Scott Brown: The Teabagger Wins in Massachusetts

Brown doing his victory dance. ;)

It was an interesting match. Ted Kennedy's seat for nearly fifty years and no Republican Senator for the last 30 years from Massachusetts. Maybe this is a good wake-up call for the Dems. They were becoming a bit complacent with big majorities in the Senate and the House of Representatives and then of course they have the Whitehouse. Maybe this will help them do better for the upcoming Congressional elections this year.

How it's going to impact healthcare bill is yet to be seen. Maybe passing it before Brown is sworn in. Otherwise filibuster for a long time in the Senate and it will never see the light of the day.

  1. 1. Health care as presently proposed in what ever version present in conference committee is DEAD.
    2. Obama must recalibrate and move RIGHT (as Clinton did in '94)
    3. Failing to do so will see him oversee heavy loses this November.

    He has a choice.

A Canadian equivalent would be a Liberal by-election win in rural Alberta.

  2. Dems had a weak candidate. That is all. Odd things do happen in politics. Reformers run Canada right now. Who would have predicted that only 5 years ago.

I predict that healthcare bill will pass to your chagrin. Although a strong public option would have been much better. Private healthcare is deadly for your health. It is sad that private healthcare lobby and other corporate lobbies control Washington D.C.
