Ruby Dhalla really is a star, I did not know that. She worked in a 2003 Bollywood movie. I would like to see it. However, if someone is trying to make money off it because she is well-known, then I support her position to stop the DVD.
I respect Ruby Dhalla, she stands for the right causes, such as fighting poverty, taking a stand on Darfur and I hope - contrary to her leader - caring about the tragedy in Gaza.
I watched CBC-News last night, it looks that she is popular in her riding - she must be doing a good job there. If some profiteer wants to hurt her reputation, then that is unfortunate.

If she had kept quiet about the movie & not tried to stop release of the DVD we most likely wouldn't have heard a word about it - or very little. Sometimes it's better not to say/do anything. Now it's become a big deal & will take awhile to go away. It could have been a one day sound bite. Unfortunate.
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't exactly a secret that she was a movie actress for such films. I don't find them offensive, in at least the ones I've seen. To try to block the sales is almost trying to deny who you are. And I hardly doubt the release of the movie would jeopardize her work as a politician, unless it was porn.
ReplyDeletePenlan and Bro, you both have good points. However Dhalla is saying that video is being doctored including the flyers to advertise the DVD as they use her face but different body.
ReplyDeleteIt is quite easy to doctor pictures or videos these days and she has a point there. If it can be shown that video is not doctored then of course she cannot stop it especially if she signed off the copyright.
