In Canada Stephen Harper wants to put young delinquents in jails and they will learn about crime there as jails are universities for crime and these young people come out as hardened criminals. They become criminals because they do not know better. Someone should brief Harper on Rehabilitation 101. Putting youth in jails is not only a waste of public funds but also it destroys the life of the detainee. The damage he/she can do to the society after graduating from the university of crime - prison - can be much worse than the crime for which they were originally imprisioned for.

ReplyDeleteAs for prison, at the end of February corrections Canada annoumced it would fade out the prison farm system which has established before the turn of the century and has seen over 300 prisoners in the last year involved in day to day farming.Rehab?
Feral children issue has been around for decades and sheds some light what environment can do.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Harper government is concerned it is unfortunate that it has chosen retaliation over rehabilitation. Retaliation never works.
