President Barack Obama Providing Relief for the People of Gaza

One feels impressed by Barack Obama that he cares, and that he is a humanitarian. He has signed a memorandum to help the people of Gaza.

Would Harper do the same?

You can click here to read the text of the memorandum.

Also, I hope that Obama will push forward with the Israeli-Palestinian peace process - now more than ever it is urgent for him to do so.

  2. Gene, Thank you for your kind words.

When I get a chance I will read the material you referred to earlier.

Your own blog has lot of great info.

Not to worry, LeDaro! There's so much to read & current events move so fast that we are often quite overwhelmed by it all. Indeed, and this is a warning from me to you, this Palestine issue can really take over your life. Sometimes, it's like looking into an abyss ... at ourselves as a species - and it can be quite scary.

BTW thanks for your kind words about the blog. I get most of the material from other bloggers who either have ideas that I find relevant to my theme or who generously share material that they have found themselves. I'm a compulsive collector and so I archive everything, parts of which are rearranged & presented on the blog. And voilĂ !

    Anyway, cheers for now!

  4. Gene, thank you for the great advice. I will pace myself in my research.

Prior to 2006 I was aware of Israeli/Arab conflict and that Israel had the all-powerful army in the region and formidable lobby in Washington D.C. But when Israel invaded Lebanon in 2006 I became more aware. I knew some Lebanese who were neutral to the conflict but scared about the safety of their families still in Lebanon. They talked about the atrocities of IDF.

I started my blog in 2007 for fun to do some political satire in my spare time in my own way and never taking up any cause other than I have been anti-war for a long time. Now this 2009 invasion of Gaza by Israel and the way some people tried to censor the information gave me incentive to read more. That is how I got a little more involved. There is simply too much to learn but one thing became obvious that Israel was the aggressor and is treating Arabs as sub-humans.

Seems to be the way with so many racists...

  6. "The United Nations has reversed its stance on one of the most contentious and bloody incidents of the recent Israel Defense Forces operation in Gaza, saying that an IDF mortar strike that killed 43 people on January 6 did not hit one of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency schools after all.

It seems that the UN has been under pressure to put the record straight after doubts arose that the school had actually been targeted. Maxwell Gaylord, the UN humanitarian coordinator in Jerusalem, said Monday that the IDF mortar shells fell in the street near the compound, and not on the compound itself.

Gaylord said that the UN "would like to clarify that the shelling and all of the fatalities took place outside and not inside the school.

UNRWA, an agency whose sole purpose is to work with Palestinian refugees, said in response Tuesday that it had maintained from the day of attack that the wounded were outside of the school compound. UNRWA said that the source of the mistake in recent weeks had originated with a separate branch of the United Nations.

Senior IDF officials had previously expressed skepticism that the school had been struck, saying that two mortar shells could not kill 43 people and wound dozens more."
