Judges Plead Guilty in Scheme to Jail Youths for Profit
Business thrived under George W. Bush, capitalism eh! Any way to make a buck. Poor hardworking judges being punished when some live on food stamps and do not work, eh!
What next? Increased death sentences so that poor funeral homes can make some bucks.
Incredible.
Is Harper not trying to do the same thing? Send more youth to detention centres instead of rehabilitation. Do these guardians of capitalism ever bother to read the extensive research which says that detention is not the answer?

Richard A. Falk and Desmond Tutu were barred entery into Israel
In my previous post I pointed out that Richard A. Falk, a world renowned humanitarian and human rights activist, working for UN, was barred from entering Israel because he does not agree with the policies of Israel with regards to the Palestinians.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa, a Nobel Peace Prize winner, also received the Albert Schweitzer Prize for Humanitarianism and the Gandhi Peace Prize. He fought against apartheid in South Africa alongside Nelson Mandela. He was denied entry into Israel as well by Israeli authorities. Apparently, the Israeli goverenment knew he does not like apartheid. What lengths will Israel go to hide its crimes against humanity and atrocities against the Palestinian people?

Richard Falk barred from entering Israel and Gaza
As stated earlier, Richard Falk is a highly respected scholar, a professor emeritus of international law. He is also a human rights activist and works for the United Nations. More recently, he was barred from entering Israel and Gaza.
It seems that anyone who speaks against the atrocities of Israel's government is quickly labelled as anti-semite and even neo-nazi, thus bellitling the meaning of these words. Dr. Falk is an American and a Jew himself and he is dedicated to human rights internationally. So given all this, how can he be anti-semite? However that does not stop some to accuse him of this. Flabberghasting.

Rush Limbaugh and Michael Steele
Who is the leader of the Republican party? The fight between Limbaugh and Steele is on. Limbaugh says Steele does not know how to lead and he wants Obama to succeed therefore he should join the Democrats. Steele says Limbaugh is a comedian and is capable of saying ugly things such as Obama should fail. Democrats do not need to do anything, these two could do the job for them.

Richard A. Falk is an American professor emeritus of international law at Princeton University, writer (the author or co-author of 20 books), speaker, activist on world affairs, and an appointee to two United Nations positions on the Palestinian territories (From Wikipedia).

I saw this great write up on Dawg's blog: "Israeli apartheid: calumny or reality?" I wanted to leave a comment, but I could not. For some settings on my computer I am unable to leave a comment on many haloscan type settings so I have given up.
I do wish to point out that I agree with Dawg's reasoning. As a matter of fact, some observers have indicated that conditions in Palestinians areas, especially Gaza, are worse than they were in Apartheid South Africa because blacks in South Africa were at least able to work and earn their living. In Gaza, even that is hard to come by. There is simply too much to read and it is plain heart-wrenching. That we in Canada and the US support such apartheid is simply incredible – by "we" I mean our governments because the public in general, when they are aware of these apartheid conditions, will not support them.
Below is a video which speaks volumes. These are Australian folks who are opposed to this apartheid.

Stephen Harper scared Russians away
The media story goes that a day before Obama's visit to Canada, Russian fighter planes violated Canada's airspace over the Arctic. PM Harper scrambled the fighter jets and scared the Russians away. Oh really! We are an air power to reckon with given our mighty, fierce Snowbirds. Watch out Putin. Now Harper not only defends our sovereignty over the Arctic but also protects Uncle Sam from those big bad Russians.
I do not think that Sarah Palin sounded so bad when she said that when Putin comes to the US he has to cross Alaska therefore she knows all about Russia. Steve scared away the Russians. That is something. We should erect his statue on the North Pole, preferably made of ice. With global warming that statue should last a long time... Recommend this post

Rush Limbaugh fuming
I heard Rush Limbaugh speak at CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference). He was supposed to speak for twenty minutes but kept on and on babbling for over NINETY minutes.
I thought the guy was crazy but I did not know the extent of it. He went to great lengths to explain why Obama must fail. He said Obama would punish the hard working, God fearing, rich people and empower the lazy poor who'd rather live on food stamps than work. According to him if Obama succeeds, then American society will be destroyed beyond repair.
What was interesting was that he got standing ovation after standing ovation from the CPAC audience. He did excite his audience, but then so did Hitler. Limbaugh is scary. Maybe he should be Republican candidate for president so that people can understand the true nature of neo-CONS.
