Read the story here and watch the video on the site and you decide. No allegations were proven against Guergis while the PMO had at least one advisor who was a convicted felon - Bruce Carson. Moreover, it looks that more background checks are done on those who attend Harper’s campaign rallies than on those who work right in the PMO and are his close advisors. Recommend this post

Helena Guergis: Was she treated fairly by Harper Government?

Helena Guergis and Stephen Harper Affair
Stephen Harper first redacted Helena Guergis, then he threw her under the dump truck and finally collected her remains and threw them in the dump truck so to speak. He not only fired her from the cabinet but also kicked her out of the caucus. Why? I would like to know and Canadians would like to now. Recommend this post

Derrick Snowdy interviewed By CBC in Nassau, the Bahamas
Photo is from the CBC.
What is it with certain characters (see earlier post on Peter Nygard), they run to the Bahamas when they have problems at home? Derrick Snowdy is primarily saying that he was not investigating Guergis or Jaffer. It was Nazim Gillani he was after. Why did Harper rushed to fire Guergis and kicked her out of caucus? It all sounds very shadowy.

Stephen Harper can use the services of Sears Optical
It is not my policy to advertise any product on my blog, but this one is so crucial for our Prime Minister. He claims to love cats but can he tell the difference between a cat and a racoon? Also, can he tell the difference between fact and fiction? He needs better sight!
One day he was praising his Minister Helena Guergis and the next day she was thrown under the dump truck on the basis of information gathered by a Harper staffer from a Derrick Snowdy, who the media is now identifying. Harper's vision is very fogged up, therefore he needs help. Mr. Harper, pay a visit to an optical expert.

Helena Guergis Affair and Magnum P.I.
Yesterday in Parliament, during question period, Mr. Jack Layton of the NDP pointed out that perhaps Mr. Harper received a phone call from Magnum P.I. about Ms. Guergis and that is why she was fired and kicked out of caucus. Mr. Harper was very evasive in his answer.
We did some search and that turned out to be the case. The whole conversation is in the above picture. Now you know for sure what happened.

Stephen Harper’s Tiger Woods moment
Stephen Harper is hearing from the world beyond, like Tiger Woods. He can get a new ad for his Conservative Party like Tiger Woods for Nike. What is amazing is that in the case of Bernier the situation seems much more serious. Bernier, when he was Minister of Foreign Affairs, had left some very sensitive papers related to defence at his then girlfriend Julie Couillard's apartment. Not only that, Couillard was involved with a biker gang who were known for illegal activities. You would think his case was very serious. But he was only fired from the cabinet but not from the caucus. Also, there have been rumours about him rejoining cabinet.
In case of Helena Guergis, it did not look that serious yet she was not only fired from the cabinet but also was kicked out from caucus. It did not stop there. Harper contacted the RCMP and Commissioner of Ethics for further investigations. Yet the public does not know why. The only excuse given so far is that some third party has made serious allegations. It happened on a Thursday night and Harper took those extraordinary measures within 24 hours on a Friday. It is baffling. Why would he not reveal the allegations? The plot thickens.

Helena Guergis Thrown under the dump truck
For Helena Guergis, it was a black Friday. First there were rumours that she was going to resign which was understandable given her tumultuous time in Cabinet. Then came the PM's press conference. It was like dropping a bomb. She was not only asked to resign but Stephen Harper said that he has asked the RCMP and Ethic's Commissioner for an investigation. It did not stop there. Then he announced that she has been kicked out of the Conservative caucus. Wow wee. However he did not explain why all these extraordinary steps were taken. That leaves a lot to speculation. Maybe Monday should put more light on the Parliament Hill earthquake where there is one known causality and there may be more.

Helena Guergis resigns from cabinet.
Stephen Harper held a news conference where he not only announced her resignation, but also said that she will no longer sit with the Conservative caucus. Quite a turn of events. Rona Ambrose will temporarily take over the Status of Women portfolio until a replacement is named.

Helena Guergis: Redacted
The Harper government was having too many problems with Ms. Helena Guergis. Such as her blow up at a P.E.I airport. More recently her staff got caught writing letters to the editor in the media profusely praising Ms. Guergis without telling the media that they were working for Ms. Guergis. Cabinet discussed the issue and consulted with her husband Rahim Jaffer and came up with a solution that from now on Ms. Guergis will wear veil/burqa. Less the opposition sees her fewer the questions; and she can do things in public without being identified. Instead of veil, cabinet decided to call it redaction.
You see, the Harper government has a lot of experience doing redactions. Remember all those documents about detainees and torture in Afghanistan?

Harper is tough on Crime
However if you're Rahim Jaffer and your wife is in the federal cabinet then your crime is washed clean in no time.
Moreover, the way Helena Guergis behaved at a PEI airport any ordinary citizen would have been arrested and put in jail and would have faced a judge in due course. Remember the guy in the US who crossed the line to kiss his girlfriend and got arrested for it. If he were in Canada and a member of Harper's cabinet his arrest would have never taken place. Tough world, eh, and tough on crime. Recommend this post
