Evolution and Republican Nomination Race

Update: Enjoy the great Johnny Cash. It is so applicable today as it was when he first sang it. Nothing much changes.

There is a serious misconception that Democrats believe in evolution and Republicans don’t.

Republicans not only believe in evolution but that they practice it plentifully. You have to look at the current race for the Republican Presidential nomination race and you will understand what I mean. They understand and practice to the hilt the principle of “survival of the fittest”.

Romney politically slaughtered one candidate after another until 2 were left besides him. Newt Gingrich tried to slaughter both Santorum and Romney but fell on his own sword. Now Rick Santorum wants to slaughter Mitt Romney but only has a toy sword. Santorum went so far as to say that re-electing Obama would be a better option than electing Romney to that position.

Romney is going after Santorum to hit him with a final blow and get him out of the way with his almost unlimited financial resources. Few understand the principle of “survival of the fittest” than him. No other principle, moral or ethics, gets in his way. If it takes flip-flopping to survive then he is already a champion.

Now wait until Romney goes against Obama. The big knives will come out.

So there is your evolution in progress.

Senator Rick Santorum race for the Whitehouse

When my kids were very young I used to watch Bugs Bunny Road Runner with them. Poor coyote was never able to catch the Road Runner. Santorum has the same problem as he has no hope in hell to get the Republican nomination. Romney has won Illinois by a double-digit margin.

Poor sufferin succotash!

GOP Debates and the State of the Republican Party

I admit, I am a political junkie. I enjoy following elections and rarely miss any national level debates whether Canadian or American.

Watching the GOP presidential debate on February 22nd in Arizona, I have to say, this is the worse group of candidates any political party has ever put forward - Ron Paul the physician at least has some good ideas on foreign policy, but a dangerous small government policy domestically. Then there's Romney the cardboard cut-out, fake Santorum, and lobbyist money-bags Gingrich, the last one claiming to "run against Washington" when he's the poster boy of Washington corruption.

These candidates are scary - they scare you that there is a God who is only for the United States, where the rest of the world must bend to America's will. If any country does not comply, then severe sanctions or invasion and slaughter. The exception to this point of course is Ron Paul, but he is a long-shot for the nomination.

Is this the best the Republicans can do? Is this the state of American politics today? Scary, especially as America is the most powerful country in the world.
