A journalistic icon, a great loss. I always enjoyed watching his reports on 60 minutes, true investigative journalism.

Happy No War Day
It is important that we remember those who gave their lives for the sake of freedom. However, we must also think about the horrors of war and how we can minimize (and hopefully end) wars in the world. Wars kill and, contrary to conventional wisdom, wars are not a necessity. We must seek other ways to sort out our differences. As I have said in past posts, violence breeds more violence and likewise one war leads to another war and there will never be an end. Let us find out the ways to avoid wars.
Yes it is idealism but there is nothing wrong with pursuing good ideals. I got the idea of "No War Day" from Andy Rooney's commentary on CBS's 60 minutes. Here is that video again:

No War Day
Watch CBS News Videos Online
I usually don't pay much attention to Andy Rooney's weekly ranting on CBS's 60 Minutes but this one is real good. He talks about Veterans Day and wars. He talks about the futility and heartbreak of wars and how civilization has not moved much further when it comes to wars. Then he suggests that instead of Veterans Day why not have a "No War Day". Coming from a veteran of the war I thought it was very meaningful. Recommend this post

Rex: The Mystery of Life
Watch CBS Videos Online
Evolution can explain the physical laws of creation, but the mind is something extraordinary. It still remains a mystery. This is not to promote any religion, but just to say that life remains, in so many ways, an extraordinary mystery. To me, evolution has not fully explained this mystery of life.
