Egypt: The turmoil

The time for Hosni Mubarak is over and the time for the military in Egypt is over as well. The only option they have left is to install the opposition leader, Mohamed Elbaradei, as head of state. Elbaradei has some credibility with the Egyptian people. Although after his installation, within three to six months proper elections must be held and a democratic government installed.

Elbaradei knows and understands the US and the West, although he was very critical of the US invasion of Iraq; though the majority of Americans are opposed to this invasion now. Because of Elbaradei's knowledge of US and the West, he will continue to have good relations with the West.

Hosni Mubarak might have installed a Vice President who can take over when he leaves, but there is very little chance that another military leader will be acceptable to the Egyptian people. Given the turmoil, the only solution I think is a properly elected government, a fair and free democracy.

My computer is still not operational, but I felt I had to post something on this so I'm using a friend's computer. I was extremely sad to hear that Keith Olbermann is leaving MSNBC. His show was great, I never missed it. He is a sincere person who stands for good causes, he will be greatly missed on MSNBC.

Last Monday my brand new computer crashed. So far the Techs, who are somewhere in Asia, have been unable to fix it. As soon as my computer is fixed I will be posting again.

Good news is that Rep. Gabrielle Giffords is doing better and her condition has been updated from critical to serious. The shooting at Tuscon was horrific. 19 people wounded and 6 of them killed.

In last couple of days my animation of Julie Couillard and Pamela Anderson has become very popular. I received close to 4000 hits in two days. I decided I will add some romantic music to it. If nothing else Maxime Bernie has made Canadian politics more interesting as otherwise our politicians are so boring. If there is a sex scandal it is mostly Britain, U.S and more recently Italy. Look at our boring leaders at the federal level.

Sarah Palin and her outbursts

This woman is crazy. Her outburst after the Arizona tragedy has further put a spotlight on her as being ignorant and crazy. While other leaders from left and right are expressing their sorrow about the Arizona tragedy, Palin is playing victim given her reference to “Blood Libel”. It turns out that she belongs to a church where leaders of the church are openly anti-Semitic. Is it possible that Rep. Gabrielle Giffords became a target because she is Jewish?

Thomas Hess, an Apostle of the Wasilla Bible Church (Palin’s church), said,

"...the Jewish people today are in slavery to many false gods in America.... My prayer is that American Jewish people become aware of the bondages to these gods and break free from them.. They must make Aliyah (return) to Israel before greater judgment or plagues come upon America. The Jewish people in America must be freed from this slavery to materialism in all of its forms in order to escape to Israel. Because of the way the Jewish people have prospered and been blessed in America, this struggle is even greater than it was to leave Europe more than seventy years ago."

This is scary stuff. We humans never seem to learn from our past blunders. I have repeatedly questioned Israel’s policy towards its neighbours and especially towards Palestinians. However it is extremely important that we humans avoid another genocide.

Tom Delay - Justice Delayed

Although the courts have found him guilty of money-laundering and other offences, and he has been sentenced to three years in jail, Tom Delay is free on bail and he is going to appeal the sentence. Unfortunately that's what happens when you are influential and have money to spend on lawyers; who knows, it may be years before Delay actually sees the inside of the slammer, or he'll manage to go free.

Sarah Palin: Her political demise is in sight

First this idiot was eerily silent about the shooting in Tuscon, Arizona. She did remove bull’s eye showing targeted ridings including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Now yesterday her verbal diarrhea broke open. She said any killing has no relation to her vitriolic and that the left is responsible for "blood libel”. What? This woman is an idiot. "Blood libel” refers to Hitler when Nazis said that Jews were killing Christian children and used that excuse to murder Jews. How does the Jewish community feel about that? Rep. Gabrielle Giffords is the first Jewish woman elected from Arizona to the House of Representatives. Will Sarah Palin get any more stupid and insensitive?

I will say to Ms. Palin that you were never a smart cookie but now you’re totally done as a politician. Now keep hunting in Alaska – poor Caribous and Moose.

Future Earth 2025

I watched this program on CBC’s The Passionate Eye - this video is worth watching. The way climate change is going, we will be in deep trouble in a few years time (not to mention what our children and grandchildren will have to endure). Some of that erratic weather is already here. Places where it should be snowing, temperatures are above zero and other places where it should be warm it is snowing.

Madness reaches the highest pitch. Tea Party rhetoric is having its impact. Sarah Palin had a map with bullseye targets on her facebook, targeting members of Congress she wanted to see defeated, including Gabrielle Giffords who was the victim of the attempted assassination. Tea Partiers and rightwingers can deny as much as they want, but their vitriolics are having their impact. This rhetoric can encourage deranged minds like the gunman in Arizona.

Great special comment by Keith Olbermann, he puts it well how violence is an increasing problem in American politics and how some political and media figures are festering this violence (on purpose or inadvertently). Olbermann also highlights how these media and political figures must take responsibility for what they say.

The sheriff in Tuscon said that the Tea Party and some TV commentators are having their impact.

Darrell Issa – the new chair of U.S House Committee on Oversight

I understand Issa is Arabic for Jesus. If any of my readers know Arabic then please correct me if I am wrong. So this is the second coming of Jesus? I am more than sure that Jesus was a lot better than this twit. He sounds like another Boner bonehead (the new weeper of the House) character. That is what happens to Tea baggers as their heads get boiled in the tea-kettle. This Issa or Jesus wants to bring McCarthyism back. He first called Obama one of the most corrupt presidents and then backtracked saying Obama’s government was one of the most corrupt administrations. He wants to investigate anything and everything about the Obama administration.

It is more like a second coming of McCarthy than Jesus. With leaders like Issa our friends in the south are in deep trouble. May God help America and reform this fake Jesus.

Wikileaks on Gaza

While the latest wikileaks revelations on Gaza don't offer new information per se, they confirm that Israel had no real intention of resolving matters in Gaza. The leaks show that Israel wanted to keep Gaza on the brink of collapse so that it would be crippled while not crippling it so much as to attract too much international attention.

Gaza has been turned into a prison camp of more than one million people; it is apartheid as Reverend Tutu has said.

Do conservatives have brain problem?

According to a British scientist, Prof Geraint Rees of University College London, they do. Conservatives have "larger amygdalas, almond shaped areas in the center of the brain often associated with anxiety and emotion, and smaller anterior cingulates, an area at the front of the brain associated with courage and looking on the bright side of life." Very interesting. And liberals have larger anterior cingulates, an area at the front of the brain hence more courage and ability of looking on the bright side of life.

Okay I don’t totally believe in physical basis of liberalism and conservatism. A lot of it is a result of social environment. If a child is born to a conservative family and brought up in a conservative environment then chances are the child will grow up to be a conservative. On the other hand, if the same child is exposed to a lot of liberal educational environment in school, college and university the child may grow up to be a liberal. However, if a child is born to conservative parents and gets no education then he is doomed to be a conservative for rest of his life. Conversely a child born to liberal parents may remain liberal despite lack of education as the child is exposed to liberal environment and liberal values growing up.

Stephen Harper Diagnosed

Remember G8 & G20 in Toronto and all the hullaballoo which went with it at a cost of $1.2 billion. All that security and miles long fence to keep the public out. Last night on CBC it was included amongst one of the biggest stories of 2010. Reporters conducted many interviews but one stood out in my estimation. A psychologist was asked about the fence and what it stood for. His response was quick, he said it was an indication of EOCD (Excessive Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) to display power. Now we know what Harper’s problem is. He suffers from EOCD.
